It's the Children

Global Education Plus team was introduced to these students.  These children attend an ACSI school. Some live in ghetto situations near Guatemala City.  Global Education Plus (GEP) assists their school by supplying textbooks.

Additionally, GEP provides financial help to the principal of their school in order to help her complete her teacher and administrative training.  These children see their only hope in education.  They know their lives will be miserable without this opportunity.  The principal, who goes to university every Saturday from early in the morning until late at night, wants to be the catalyst of hope for these children.  Hope is all they have.  Walk with these children.

It's the Textbooks

Through our experience, GEP's major priority has come into focus...it is textbooks!  Although our activities provide many necessities, textbooks have proven to be the primary need.  Each child in this program lives in poverty.  Textbooks are an essential link to a life above poverty.

The Wall Street Journal has estimated that funds being spent per child on education each year in the U.S. is $8,900.  In the developing world, that amount is $165 per year.

It's the Teachers

The teachers are the conduit - the link to knowledge, the link to respect, the way out of the ghettos where these children live.  Each of these men and women have a common desire to teach the children so that they can become the future leaders.  The teachers want to equip these children with the values they will use as adults to improve the lives of others.  The teachers are the beginning of the cycle.  GEP recognizes the vital role of the teachers and has undertaken to provide additional training for them by sponsoring Teacher Certification Events.

The teacher certification events have an emphasis on classroom management, methodoloy and curriculum, along with Biblical introduction, Biblical intergration and philosophy of education.  Upon completion of the program, each teacher returns to his/her school to share their knowledge with other teachers and touch the lives of the children in their classroom.
